Shefsky & Froelich Hosts Legal Ethics Seminar for High School Students

On Thursday, August 2, 2012, the Shefsky & Froelich Diversity Committee partnered with the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and the Just the Beginning Foundation (JTBF) to host and facilitate a "Legal Ethics" interactive program with 70 high school students and the "Law and Leadership Institute." The group was comprised primarily of minority students, as well as additional students from varied backgrounds who also qualified for the summer program.

The Law and Leadership Institute is a summer seminar that is fully sponsored by legal diversity-themed organizations, committees and well-known individuals.

Shefsky's program explored the ethical issues surrounding social media, conflicts, attorney-client privilege and the Himmel rule. Each topic was followed by a series of hypothetical situations the students discussed in small groups.
